My name is Caitlin Cassity and this is my blog about art, inspirations, and life.

The reason why I started this blog was so I could have a compilation of my artwork in a single place. An online journal that organizes my thoughts and ideas. Feel free to comment and give your opinions. I appreciate any input that you may have.

My paintings revolve around the relationship between the positive and negative spaces and the shapes they create in my paintings. Within this, I've created a theme of these abstract colored dots that are a fuzzy representation of hot air balloons. I've painted them often in desolate and barren locations. Not much life is represented in the landscapes. However, these little dots of color are almost an escape from that. The viewer can't really see what they are. For me, they represent a relief from the hard times in life. Hot air balloons take you away from your surroundings, and whatever life may live in these locations that I paint, long to escape from the despair they are living in.
